SEDONA, Arizona

...
As it stands now, should the trip end that day, Sedona would have been Ellen's favorite stop on the map. And though we've collected many new favorites along the way, Sedona is right up there with the rest of the best. With beautiful blue sky filled with big fluffy clouds, and the horizon scattered with the infamous "Red Rock" mountains, there are just no pictures capable of putting what we saw into words (an underlying theme on this trip!)

We rolled into town around 4 pm and caught downtown alive with tourists and locals. Sedona is known for the people who come to town looking for spiritual healing. While we relaxed on top of Airport Drive (a perfect place for the sunset), we witnessed several individuals with rock-crystals laying in their palms. Now, we don't know much about that sorta' thing, but to each his own ... we only hope it helped whatever they were searching for.

We crashed at the only hostel in town who took us in literally "last minute". We ended up pitching a tent out back. We met a guy named Dave ... like so many of you out there have ... but this guy gave us the inside-scoop. He mentioned the place to catch the local flavor, just down the road at the Laughing Coyote where all the cowboys go to drink their sorrows away. So, sure enough, these two city slicker that we are, rolled into the pub and enjoyed the best darn burger fresh off the BBQ grill out back.

Believe it or not, we hit a puddle at some point in Sedona and splashed a bit of Red Rock mud up on the truck. It remained there for another four weeks before our first raindrops came in Yellowstone NP. We had people asking us all over western coast where we got the red mud from! The mountains are another MUST SEE. Once we upload the pictures, you'll understand why.
