By the time we were done with the fast-food
joint Varsity in Atlanta, and finally made it
to Nashville, it was 8 PM and the sun was down. But that didn't stop us from heading out
for the Wild Horse Saloon in the downtown
area, complete with line-dancing lessons and live country entertainment. It was an early wakeup call the next morning as we made our way to
the famous Opry Land Hotel. Because we were there on a Monday, we missed the Friday and
Saturday Grand-Ole Opry Shows, but did have a few hours to wander the massive hotel.
Enormous indoor fountains and 3-4 football field sized rooms filled with Botanical
Gardens, left us awe struck and wanting more. It is so enormous, you could even take an
indoor boat ride (which we didn't because of the fee).
We did, however, campout for 20 minutes under the
grandest fountain display we've ever seen. A 100-foot beam of water was launched in to the
air with mid-western music synchronizing the show.
We managed to high-tail it out of the city just as
torrential down-pours began. The city and surrounding areas received a shocking 10-inches
of rain the following day. |
