| Ok, time to face the facts ... Ellen and
Frank are kids at heart. We just wanted to stop and get our picture taken standing in 4
states at one time. (see proof of arrival to
the right)
Monument Valley was something completely different
though, filled with amazing rock-structure landscapes deep in the heartland of the Navajo
Indian Reservation. We didn't spend much time here, but did a drive through and caught
some of it on film (scroll down).
The Navajo Reservation is 25,000 square miles surrounding
the four corners monument, but the vast majority located in Northeastern Arizona. They
have countless booth setups lining the highways where passer-byers can stop and purchase
handmade jewelry and pottery.
Side
note ... it's interesting how they call themselves Indians, while the rest of the American
population calls them Native Americans.
Make sure you stop and try the local cuisine. Our
recommendation is the Indian Frybread and Navajo Taco's. |
