| Most unfortunately, time was in short supply
when we arrived in Charlotte. Even more unfortunate was the fact that both Ellen and Frank
had family living in town which left only enough time for a drive-by viewing of the city
skyline. A
quick stop to rekindle family ties previously separated by distances, was all the time
permitted. We certainly would have enjoyed a longer visit with Ellen's second cousin Anne
and her family (you can see a picture of them on the right).
Their house was in the Charlotte suburbs, but the inside
was decorated with a warm Southwestern flair which left Ellen feeling right at home. Anne
had slaved in the kitchen cooking up some delicious enchiladas, prepared Aunt Peggy style.
The kids showed off their developing talents ranging from
MaryAnn's pottery and design T-Shirts, to Jamie's self-taught piano skills, not to mention
Britte's 4-year-old knowledge of the alphabet (he can even write his name :)
It was a quick hop over to Frank's cousin Krissi's house.
All 4 children were wide-eyed and bushy-tailed with excited faces to greet us! Before Sam
(Krissi's hubby) came home from youth group, we all had a old fashioned pillow fight
before settling down.
Sam wouldn't let us hit the sack before having a quick
taste test of this delicious home-made milk shake (topped off with Vanilla straight from
Latin America. The milk-shakes were the perfect beverage for toasting Krissi and Sam's 15th
anniversary at mid-night!
We can't wait to see both families at our wedding next
year :) |
